Neonatal Quality at Hot Topics is a one-day conference focused on quality improvement and patient safety in neonatology. Didactic presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops will showcase best practices in newborn care and will offer a pragmatic approach to using quality methods and tools to improve newborn outcomes.

Participants will gain practical knowledge and insight to support new and ongoing improvement initiatives in their own environment.

This conference will be offered as a hybrid conference.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the principles of patient safety as a foundation for high-quality neonatal care.
  • Identify strategies to strengthen safety culture, including enhancing nursing engagement and mitigating provider burnout.
  • Apply targeted interventions to improve neonatal safety, in areas including perioperative care, skin integrity, and resuscitation.
  • Implement novel proactive safety tools and effective communication strategies around disclosure of unexpected outcomes.
