Nemours Children's Health & the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education

Nemours Children's Health implemented The Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education (The Standards) on January 1, 2022 following the replacement of the Standards for Commercial Support.

The Standards ensure that accredited continuing education continues to meet the highest standards in education that is accurate, balanced and utilizes scientifically justified recommendations.

The Standards have been adopted by multiple accrediting bodies including:

  • Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
  • Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
  • American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
  • American Academy of PAs (AAPA) 
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
  • Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry’s Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (ARBO/COPE)
  • Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™ (Joint Accreditation)
  • American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP)

Nemours Children's Health Continuing Education staff have received detailed training by attending the ACCME and Joint Accreditation workshops. Our processes were developed in conjunction with other national providers and utilizing templates provided by the ACCME. Our goal is to ensure that our learners receive unbiased education that is transparent and compliant, and education leaders have topflight support in implementing evidence-based accredited education.
