2026 Orthopaedic Management of the Child with Cerebral Palsy Review Course
This two-day course will review aspects of orthopedic management of the child with cerebral palsy, with a special focus on lower extremity deformities.
Course Structure
- Multiple short lectures will include comments and questions from attendees.
- Multiple case presentations allow discussion of treatment options.
- Course is limited to 100 attendees.
- Attendees are encouraged to bring cases if they desire.
Special Focus on the following Hip and Gait Problems in Cerebral Palsy
- Hip surveillance
- Hip dysplasia prevention treatment
- Hip reconstruction
- Salvage options
- Natural history of gait pathology
- Timing of gait treatments
- Crouch gait
- Stiff knee gait
- Diagnostic decision making
This activity has been planned and implemented through the joint providership of Nemours Children's Helath and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).
Target Audience
Early and mid-career pediatric orthopedic practitioners treating children with cerebral palsy.
Learning Objectives
- Recognize and develop a treatment plan for hip dysplasia in pediatric Cerebral Palsy (CP) patients at an early stage, which can improve quality of life.
- Apply the most current scientific data to manage their pediatric patients with CP.
- Recognize specific gait impairments with children with CP and develop a treatment plan.
