This presentation will focus on pediatric traumatic injuries which includes a case study.  

Target Audience

Registered Nurses and clinicians caring for emergencies.

Learning Objectives

 Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to: 

  • Discuss primary survey assessment and management priorities for the critically injured pediatric patient
  • List secondary survey assessment and management priorities for the critically injured patient
  • Describe the anatomy and physiology of the organs in the thoracic cavity
  • Discuss long term management of the critically injured pediatric patient
  • Discuss family psychosocial considerations related to the critically ill pediatric patient
