Nemours Quality Champions Program Cohort 5

October 2, 2024 to June 25, 2025

Course Overview

Interdisciplinary teams participate in a 10-month program for training in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. In addition to individuals earning an IHI Basic Certificate in Quality and Patient Safety, each team will complete a team quality improvement project facilitated by their mentor. Participants will complete online modules from IHI in our flipped classroom and meet monthly to expand on their learnings.

 

Required Course Deliverables

  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Basic Certificate Program (13 modules) (Track A)
  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Intermediate Level modules (only for those who have already completed the Basic Certificate modules (Track B)
  • Team Storyboard and Presentation (Both Track A and Track B)

Aims:

  • To develop a cohort of health care professionals with training in quality improvement
  • To sponsor QI champions led projects at the unit level to advance the Mission Zero Initiative
  • To promote interprofessional teamwork in quality improvement
  • Graduates will disseminate learnings and lead future quality improvement activities

Measures:

  • Completion of the 13 IHI modules for the Basic   Certificate program or other assigned modules
  • Completion of all required assignments (Supplemental learning activities and additional readings are optional)
  • Attending Introductory Session and Graduation Session
  • Attending at least 7 of 9 monthly didactic sessions
  • Completion of pre and post tests
  • Demonstration of meaningful participation in QI project and Storyboard

Target Audience

Interprofessional (clinical and nonclinical) associates across Nemours enterprise interested in learning QI methodology

Nursing Accreditation

Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. 

Physician Accreditation 

The Nemours Foundation is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Please check with your accreditation board to make sure they accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. 

Maintenance of Certification (MOC)

American Board of Pediatrics (ABP)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 1.5 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. 

American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)

This activity offers up to 1.5 CME credits, of which 1.5 credits contribute the patient safety CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in AnesthesiologyTM (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

American Board of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery) (ABOHNS)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn their required annual part II self-assessment credit in the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery’s Continuing Certification program (formerly known as MOC). It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of recognizing participation.

American Board of Pathology (ABPath)

ABPath does not have a formal statement, however accredited providers must clearly indicate to learners that the activity has been registered to offer credit in the American Board of Pathology’s Continuing Certification program on activity materials. This language must include the specific credit type(s) and number of credits available: Lifelong Learning (CME) and/or Improvement in Medical Practice (Part IV).

American Board of Surgery (ABS)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirement(s) of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.

Other Professions

A certificate of participation will be provided to other health care professionals requesting credits. Please check with your accreditation board to make sure they accept the above accreditation types.
