NAHN Lecture | Fatty Liver Disease
The NAHN Central Florida Monthly Education Series is designed to advance the professional development of Hispanic nurses while addressing critical healthcare gaps impacting our community. Through one-hour, interactive sessions led by subject matter experts, participants will explore evidence-based strategies, culturally responsive care models, and emerging trends in nursing practice. This session provides a forum for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange related to Fatty Liver Disease with Maria Hernandez as the guest speaker.
Target Audience
Registered Nurses and nursing students in Central Florida committed to advancing culturally responsive care and professional development.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:
- Define MASLD/MASH and why it disproportionately affects Latino communities.
- Identify early warning signs, risk factors, and simple clinical indicators that may suggest MASLD in patients.
- Communicate liver health information in simple, culturally meaningful ways to support prevention and healthy lifestyle changes.
- Describe the critical role nurses play in prevention, patient education, early referral, and advocacy for equitable care.
