Online - General Cardiology: Chest Pain, Palpitations, Syncope and Murmurs
In 2021, the Nemours Cardiac Center at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware created a four-part review of pediatric cardiology designed for the primary care clinician. This education has been developed as a series of enduring modules so that you may participate at your convenience.
This module focuses on common cardiac complaints (chest pain, palpitations, syncope, murmurs) and presentations of recent data regarding outcomes related to these complaints*. At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to recognize symptoms that may be associated with significant cardiac disease and refer patients to specialists when appropriate.

Target Audience
Physicians and all Pediatric Primary Care providers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify dangerous causes of chest pain
- Refer to cardiology for chest pain when indicated
- Obtain a detailed history of palpitations in the pediatric patient
- Generate a differential diagnosis for palpitations in the pediatric patient
- To define syncope and other forms of fainting
- To organize a structured approach to the initial evaluation of a patient with syncope
- Identify innocent murmurs
- Identify when to refer a child with a murmur
