This course provides emergency nurses and EMS clinicians with knowledge to manage potential situations that may be seen in OB patients presenting to the ED.

Target Audience

Registered Nurses

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:

•Readiness: Describe incidence, physiology, and psychology of 2 pregnancy situations which may occur in the ED.
•Recognition: Describe assessment of the pregnant person presenting to the ED
•Respond: Describe management of one common and one uncommon pregnancy situation in the ED.
•Respectful: Describe key points of emotional support and trauma-informed care for the obstetrical patient, as well as for self.
