John Parkhurst, PhD

Dr. Parkhurst is a clinical child and adolescent psychologist and Director of Collaborative Care in the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University.
Dr. Parkhurst directs collaborative care across Lurie Children’s, which includes the Mood, Anxiety, and ADHD Collaborative Care (MAACC) Program that trains and consults with primary care clinicians to expand access to mental health treatment.
Dr. Parkhurst specializes in evidence-based assessment and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for children and adolescents with anxiety and co-occurring conditions. His research focuses on diagnostic decision-making, measurement-based care, and anxiety disorders, with a growing emphasis on suicide prevention and substance use treatment in pediatric settings. His research efforts have been supported by multiple federal, state, and institutional grants, including, National Institutes of Health, PCORI, and the Cook County Health Department.
