J. Benjamin Pillow, DNP, RN, NE-BC

Dr. J. Benjamin Pillow is a distinguished nursing leader with over a decade of progressive experience in pediatric and neonatal care. He currently serves as the Clinical Nurse Manager for Staffing Resource and Virtual Care at Nemours Children’s Health Florida, where he leads a dynamic team of over 65 nurses and patient care technicians. Under his leadership, the team transitioned to a critical care focus, significantly improved engagement and retention, and launched a multi-state virtual nursing program.

Dr. Pillow holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from the University of Central Florida, where his dissertation focused on implementing post-event stress debriefing programs for clinical teams. He also earned a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Management and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UCF and the University of Florida, respectively.

His career spans roles in high-acuity environments including Level IV NICUs, pediatric critical care, obstetrics, and ECMO services. He has led multiple quality improvement initiatives, contributed to peer-reviewed publications, and presented award-winning research at national conferences. Notably, he was honored with the Daisy Award for Transformational Leadership and the Daisy Team Award.

Dr. Pillow is board-certified as a Nurse Executive and actively contributes to several professional and community organizations. He enjoys the opportunity of serving as a mentor to graduate students at UCF’s College of Nursing, as well as time volunteering in the community, which as an Eagle Scout, includes Scouting America for almost 30 years now. His work reflects a deep commitment to innovation, excellence in patient care, and the advancement of nursing practice and well-being.
