Dr. Diana Corao-Uribe is a board-certified pediatric pathologist with over 20 years of experience in pediatric pathology. She serves as Section Chief of Surgical Pathology at Nemours Children’s Health, where she provides clinical and administrative leadership across a broad range of diagnostic services. She is also the founder of the Nemours Biobank and currently serves as Director of the Biobank and Molecular Analysis Program, overseeing initiatives that integrate biospecimen science with advanced molecular technologies to support translational research.
Dr. Corao-Uribe is actively involved in national leadership through her role as Symposium Chair for the Society for Pediatric Pathology, contributing to the advancement of education and scientific exchange within the field.
Her research program focuses on understanding the biological mechanisms underlying disparities in pediatric cancer outcomes. In particular, her work investigates the relationship between neighborhood deprivation (as measured by area deprivation index, ADI), epigenetic alterations, and clinical outcomes in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Through this work, she aims to identify molecular pathways that link social determinants of health to disease progression and treatment response.
In addition, Dr. Corao-Uribe is the Principal Investigator of funded research evaluating tumor heterogeneity in Ewing sarcoma using spatial transcriptomics, applying cutting-edge genomic approaches to better characterize tumor biology and therapeutic resistance. She has successfully built a strong track record of collaborative, multidisciplinary research.
Throughout her career at Nemours, Dr. Corao-Uribe has collaborated extensively with investigators across a wide range of specialties, fostering institutional research growth and innovation. She is currently leading the development of the Nemours Genomics Laboratory, an initiative aimed at expanding in-house genomic testing capabilities and advancing precision medicine efforts within the organization.
