Kara Lehner, PhD Candidate, Cancer Modeling Laboratory

Kara Lehner is a PhD Candidate in the Cancer Modeling Laboratory at Nemours. She is a 6th year Cell and Organ Systems doctoral student at the University of Delaware. Her research is focused on deciphering the role of the bone marrow microenvironment in chemotherapy resistance and utilizing epigenetic modifiers to reverse it. As part of the Acute Myeloid Leukemia research group, Kara works on developing syngeneic mouse models bearing KMT2A rearranged AML, a fusion oncoprotein-driven pediatric leukemia with poor prognosis, with the goal of transition to the clinic.
