Ibrahim Gwarzo, DrPH, MPH, MBBS

Ibrahim Gwarzo, MBBS, MPH, DrPH, is a research scientist and research assistant professor of pediatrics at Nemours Children’s Health and Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Gwarzo conducts health services research in the sickle cell disease (SCD) population. He is dedicated to translating data into clinical improvements and reducing health inequities for the SCD population. His work focuses on healthcare utilization and acute pain management in emergency departments for patients with SCD. He is funded by the Delaware Sickle Cell Disease Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) to build a statewide data infrastructure modeled on the CDC’s Sickle Cell Data Collection program. This infrastructure will enable population-level surveillance, support quality improvement, and advance health services research for SCD in Delaware. Dr. Gwarzo is also funded by the ASH Research Collaborative Data Hub to conduct a multisite study on timely SCD pain management.
