Nehal Parikh, DO, MS

Dr. Nehal Parikh is a neonatologist, neuroscientist, and Professor at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. His vision, as the founding Director of the Neurodevelopmental Disorders Prevention Center, is to prevent neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) in high-risk newborns. He has assembled the largest longitudinal cohort of very preterm infants with quantitative brain MRI and comprehensive neurodevelopmental testing up to 7 years of age. This study is uncovering novel risk and protective factors of brain and neurodevelopment and enabling early diagnosis of NDD. Dr. Parikh also has a keen interest in BPD, a top risk factor for NDD. He has conducted two clinical trials of postnatal corticosteroids in infants with BPD and numerous studies examining the effects of BPD and PNCs on brain structure and developmental outcomes.
