Zakeira Watkins is a nursing student at Chamberlain University and currently serves as a phlebotomist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Diagnosed with sideroblastic anemia at the age of two and later experiencing heart failure at twenty-one, Ms. Watkins has faced significant health challenges that have deeply influenced her personal and professional path. Her experiences as a long-term patient have instilled in her a profound sense of empathy and a strong commitment to pediatric care. She aspires to become a registered nurse at CHOP, where she hopes to continue giving back to the very institution that played a vital role in her journey. Through her story, Ms. Watkins aims to inspire, advocate, and empower others navigating the healthcare system.
