Claire Carlson, RN, BSN

Claire Carlson, RN, BSN is the nurse coordinator for the Cancer Survivorship Program and the Fertility Preservation Program at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
She has degrees in both Healthcare Administration (University or Scranton, Scranton, PA) and Nursing (Neumann University). She has been a nurse for 28 years and the focus of her career has been pediatric oncology.
In her current role, she is the nurse navigator for CHOP’s Cancer Survivorship Program, helping families navigate life after cancer, including both the physical and emotional issues they may face. She also helped to build CHOP’S Fertility Preservation Program, a multidisciplinary team that is committed to offering fertility preservation options to patients and families across the institution that may be at risk for impaired fertility from the treatment of their primary medical condition (cancer as well as non-malignant diagnoses). This program provides comprehensive risk-based counselling on the gonadotoxic potential of the proposed treatment plan and helps to facilitate fertility preservation procedures for both pre-pubertal and pubertal males and females as appropriate.
