Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to

  1. Analyze the impact of historical and systemic factors on racial disparities in breastfeeding in the USA
  2. Describe new forms of predatory formula marketing online
  3. Develop a critical thinking approach to identify the root cause of complex feeding situations
  4. Describe the physiological and clinical impact of common maternal medical issues on maternal health and lactation during the 4th trimester
  5. Discuss the potential benefits of baby wearing on maternal mental health, infant bonding and lactation
  6. Identify common breast issues in lactation, including engorgement, clogged ducts, mastitis, and nipple pain, and understand their impact on breastfeeding.
