Joy Perkins, BSN, RRT, RN

Joy Perkins is the congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) program coordinator at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital (JHACH) in St. Petersburg, Florida. Joy started her career in healthcare as a respiratory therapist in Tallahassee, Florida. After relocating to Gainesville, she began working at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. While at Shands she spent time as a staff RT in the neonatal and pediatric ICUS, became a member of the ShandsCair flight team, and was a member and primer of the ECMO team. She also went back to school to become a nurse, and she worked in the NICU as an RN.
Joy became passionate about the care of CDH patients while caring for these infants as an RT and ECMO specialist. After completing her nursing degree, she became the coordinator for the CDH program at Shands and began helping families relocate for care at that facility. In 2016, she was offered the opportunity to aid in the development of a CDH program at JHACH in St. Petersburg, Florida. Over the last 9 years, the program has grown to care for 60-70 CDH newborns each year. Joy takes great pride in the growth and success the team at JHACH has achieved in such a short amount of time. She enjoys teaching and sharing what she has learned about CDH through the years.
