
Is There a Nurse on Board: Responding to Inflight Medical Emergencies- DENA Chapter Meeting
Responding to a call for assistance by flight attendants to help manage an in-flight medical emergency means functioning out of the typical nursing comfort zone. Lack of knowledge about the medical resources that are available on a commercial airline as well as concerns regarding personal and professional liability risks can make such an event even more stressful. This presentation will address the etiology of in-flight medical emergencies, key factors in weighing the decision to respond, the typical availability of medical resources, and personal and professional liability risks to consider.
