Nemours Health Partnerships Quality Council | Session 1 Building a Team
Course Overview
Interdisciplinary leaders from our Partnership sites participate in a 10-month program for training in Quality Improvement. These leaders are charged with forming a local team to execute a step-by-step quality improvement project. Participants progress through a structured curriculum with targeted pre-work and proctored assignments.
The 2026 collaborative project across all sites will be related to reducing treatment nonadherence. Preliminary collaborative aim statements include: Reducing Vitamin K and Hepatitis B vaccine refusal in the well-baby nursery / NICU from 50% to 33% by January 2027 and Reducing readmission for asthma exacerbation secondary to treatment non-adherence from 10% to 5% by January 2027.
Required Course Deliverables
Aims:
- To develop a cadre of health care professionals with training in quality improvement
- To develop a cadre of health care professionals with experience in leading quality improvement activity
- To promote interprofessional teamwork in quality improvement
- To generate meaningful and coordinated quality improvement activity across our Nemours Partnership sites
- To demonstrate progress towards QI aim statements as noted above.
Measures:
- Completion of all required assignments – use of team workbooks stored on MS Teams site to capture activities
- Meaningful participation in team meetings as noted by attendance and faculty reflection
- Completion of a poster presentation reflecting on each team’s efforts
