Managing Diabetes and New Technology for Students

"Managing Diabetes and New Technology for Students"  is a one-hour session designed to equip school nurses with current knowledge and practical tools for supporting students with diabetes. Led by an experienced diabetes nurse educator, the course explores emerging technologies such as continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, and how they impact care in the school setting. Participants will gain confidence in managing diabetes-related needs, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with families and healthcare providers.

Target Audience

Nurses, Academic Professionals and others working with children in community settings as well as those interested in the session topics

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the latest evidence-based research and advancements in pediatric diabetes, applying the most current knowledge and practices in their care for students.
  • Identify key pediatric diabetes issues and best practices, addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by school nurses.
  • Apply health measures, empowering them to proactively address pediatric diabetes issues within the school setting.
