Review of  Clinical Pathways for Headache diagnosis and management, as well as constipation diagnosis and management.

Target Audience

Nemours Physicians, Nurses, and Physician Associates.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:

  • Apply standardized diagnostic criteria to accurately diagnose pediatric migraine and other common primary headache disorders in the primary care setting.
  • Implement evidence-based acute and preventive management strategies for pediatric headache, including pharmacologic treatment, lifestyle modification counseling, and patient/family education in a collaborative manner with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate when neurology referral is clinically indicated based on patient presentation and reduce unnecessary specialty referrals.
  • Implement evidence-based acute and chronic management strategies for pediatric constipation, including pharmacologic treatment, diet modification counseling, and patient/family education in a collaborative manner with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Recognize the diagnostic criteria or red flags that warrant further evaluation or specialty referral for constipation.
  • Recommended treatment strategies for disimpaction and maintenance therapy.
  • Demonstrate appropriate documentation and medication reconciliation practices to support continuity of care.
