CFL BHH 2026 | Social Media, Gaming, and Digital Wellness in Children & Adolescents
As social media and gaming become increasingly integrated into the lives of children and adolescents, clinicians need practical strategies to address related concerns. This session from the Central Florida Behavioral Health Hub will provide guidance on assessing digital media use, identifying signs of functional impairment, counseling families, and determining when additional intervention or behavioral health referral is appropriate.
This training will be hosted virtually only via Microsoft Teams. The meeting link will be emailed to registered attendees.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:
- Identify current trends in adolescent social media and gaming use and describe both potential benefits and risks of digital engagement.
- Differentiate typical digital engagement from problematic use by assessing functional impairment across multiple domains of functioning
- Apply evidence-informed counseling strategies, including sleep-focused interventions and family media planning, to support healthy technology use.
Team-Based Learning Objective:
Participants will collaborate across disciplines to assess digital media use, identify risk factors and functional impairment, provide consistent family-centered counseling, and coordinate appropriate behavioral health referrals when concerns related to social media use or gaming are identified.
