Lieutenant Peter T. Small has been employed with the New Castle County Division of Emergency Medical Services since May 2000. He is currently the Coordinator of the Office of System Improvement. Since obtaining his certification as a paramedic from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians on September 11, 2001, he has served in multiple roles within the EMS Division. Prior to his current administrative assignment, he served as a field paramedic, field supervisor and shift commander. He has also been a Field Training Officer, Division Public Information Officer and maintains multiple instructor certifications. Lieutenant Small is the team leader for the New Castle County EMS Technical Rescue Team, for which he maintains additional certifications in Trench and Structural Collapse Rescue, Ropes and High-Angle Rescue and Confined Space Rescue. Lieutenant Small attended Delaware Technical and Community College for his initial paramedic training.  He is also a graduate of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Command and Leadership Academy. Lieutenant Small currently resides in North Wilmington with his wife and daughter.
