NICU PIVIE Roundtable

November 11, 2024

Peripheral intravenous infiltration and extravasation (PIVIE) in neonates has the potential to cause significant tissue injury, leading to increased length of stay, increased cost, patient discomfort and family distress.  Prevention of PIVIEs requires constant vigilance and the efforts of multiple interprofessional team members.  This roundtrable discussion provides the opportunity for clinicians in a variety of disciplines to learn about each other's roles, discuss strategies for PIVIE prevention and strengthen collaboration.

Target Audience

NICU registered nurses, especially those newer to practice, nursing students, pharmacy students and residents, dietitian students, Transport Team clinicians
