Adalberto Torres, MD, MS
Dr. Adalberto “Al” Torres, Jr. serves as the Executive Medical Director of Nemours Services at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center and as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. Dr. Torres is a pediatrician certified by the American Board of Pediatrics to practice Pediatric Critical Care. He has over thirty-five years of critical care experience. Dr. Torres joined Nemours in January 2012 as the Chief of Critical Care and Transport at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando.
Dr. Torres has authored twenty-five peer-reviewed scientific publications and delivered more than 60 scientific presentations locally, regionally, and nationally. He is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Florida State University College of Medicine, and Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Torres has received awards for his clinical service, teaching of pediatric house staff, research accomplishments, and community service. Dr. Torres was recently added to the nationally published list of Best Doctors in America in 2019. He was recognized as one of only three recipients of the Preceptor Excellence Award from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in 2019. Dr. Torres was also awarded the Don Quijote Award for Professional of the Year from the Hispanic Chamber of Metro Orlando and Prospera in 2017.
