Tamarah Westmoreland, MD, PhD

Tamarah Westmoreland, MD, PhD joined Nemours Children’s Hospital in August 2013 as a specialist in pediatric and oncologic surgery. She came to Nemours after completing a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Prior to this, she completed a fellowship in pediatric surgical oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Dr. Westmoreland’s interest in evidence-based medicine led her to a surgical research fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. While at Duke, she earned a doctorate in the genetics and genomics program while completing her general surgery residency. Dr. Westmoreland’s medical degree is from East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, N.C. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery. As a Pediatric Surgeon at Nemours Children’s Hospital Florida and a Professor of Surgery at the University of Central FL School of Medicine, Dr. Westmoreland has over 20 years of experience in both basic science and translational research.
