Trauma Resuscitation in Kids (TRIK) Course
Nemours Institute for Clinical Excellence of Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians is proud to present the Trauma Resuscitation in Kids (TRIK) Course.
This is an intensive two day simulation-based course designed for health care providers who manage pediatric trauma patients. Starting from the primary survey and initial resuscitation, this course takes an interactive approach to managing common and uncommon pediatric trauma cases while focusing on the roles of team leader and team member. The TRIK Course is designed for emergency physicians, general surgeons, pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, critical care physicians, family physicians, emergency nurses and respiratory therapists.
Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given for written cancellations received before October 28, 2024. No refunds will be given after that date. Nemours is not responsible for any cancellations or change fees assessed by airlines, travel agencies or hotels. The course will be cancelled if the minimum number of registrants is not met. In this case, you will be notified at least one month before the start of this course.
Target Audience
The TRIK Course is designed for emergency physicians, general surgeons, pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, critical care physicians, family physicians, emergency nurses and respiratory therapists.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the differences between adult and child pathophysiology
- Conduct a primary and secondary survey for pediatric trauma cases
- Recognize, diagnose and manage common trauma-related pediatric injuries
- Recognize and consider ethical issues related to pediatric trauma
- Interpret diagnostic images for pediatric trauma cases
- Determine the appropriate steps to prepare for the transport of a pediatric trauma patient

This activity is an Accredited Simulation Activity (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the Royal College CPD unit. You may claim a maximum of 14 hours 30 minutes (credits are automatically calculated).
Through an agreement between the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert Royal College MOC credits to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.TM
