Irene Sandler, Baptized, Confirmed, Roman Catholic

Irene Doyle Sandler is a "cradle Catholic," baptized as an infant and raised in a large Irish Catholic family in South Bend, IN. She is the fifth of seven children. She has been a practicing Catholic all her life and began seriously studying the Bible at age 18 after the tragic death of one of her siblings, an older sister. She has been studying the Bible and Church history ever since. She attended Michigan State University and graduated with a BA in Romance Languages. While still a college student she landed her first job as a radio news anchor at a Country Western radio station in Lansing, Michigan. Her broadcast journalism career led to reporting at the state capitol, a daily public affairs radio call-in radio show and high profile anchoring positions in Boston and Chicago. She retired from broadcasting after 15 years to focus full time on raising her three children, keeping a peaceful home along with a workaholic physician husband. She simultaneously enjoyed active volunteer roles in the community. She served as the elementary school chess coach for ten years and served as president of several not-for-profit organizations. She currently serves as president of On This Rock Communications, Inc. (OTRC), a Catholic 501c3 which focuses on support of Catholic media and evangelization. Under her leadership, OTRC helped purchase three radio stations in Central Florida, partnering with the nationwide Relevant Radio network, to bring Catholic talk radio to Orlando and The Villages. Irene is also on the Executive Board of the Council of Catholic Women at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Orlando and serves as Chair of I-4 Corridor Catholics, a grassroots apostolate of Catholic laity which promotes Catholic values in the public square.
