Dr. Jennifer Vodzak is a pediatric infectious diseases physician who joined the Division of Infectious Diseases at Nemours Children’s Hospital in December for both clinical care and as Medical Director for the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at our Wilmington, Delaware campus. 

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wilkes University, Dr. Vodzak obtained her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed both her pediatrics residency and pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.  She participated in research and clinical care for children through the Tuberculosis Control Program for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.  Following fellowship, Dr. Vodzak continued as faculty at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and subsequently at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Most recently before her new role here at Nemours, she served as Division Director for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and the Director for Pediatric Quality and Safety for Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, as part of the larger integrated Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Vodzak has contributed to numerous projects, committees, presentations and publications in pediatric infectious diseases, informatics, patient safety and quality improvement. Recognizing her commitment to teaching trainees and colleagues, she has received several teaching awards, and is actively involved in student and resident education, as well as local, regional, and national CME programs.  Dr. Vodzak’s current academic and administrative pursuits focus on antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship, hospital and outpatient-based quality, patient safety, and informatics initiatives, and developing multidisciplinary partnerships for improving pediatric care.  She is looking forward to new and evolving opportunities to contribute to the health and wellbeing of children in Delaware and the surrounding communities.
