Danielle Nickles, MS, LCPC
Danielle Nickles is the Child Protection Program Coordinator at Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). Danielle received her bachelor's degree from Wingate University, and she received her master's degree in applied psychology from Francis Marion University. Danielle has over 12 years of training and experience in the field of child abuse, child advocacy, and child trauma treatment. Danielle has been a forensic interviewer and a child & family therapist at a Child Advocacy Center in South Carolina. While there, she provided trauma focused counseling services for children and adolescents who have experienced child abuse, conducted over 500 forensic interviews, and lead counseling groups for adolescent boys with problematic sexual behaviors. Danielle has also worked as a school-based therapist at an elementary school in South Carolina, where she provided counseling services to children with a variety of behavioral and emotional needs. Danielle joined the GBMC Child Protection Program as Coordinator in November of 2020.
During her time with the Child Protection Program, Danielle has helped train Emergency Department nursing staff on the recognition and response to child abuse and human trafficking; she’s been a panelist at the Dr. John Adam’s Compassionate Caregiving Rounds, providing education to all interested hospital staff regarding Human Trafficking in the Baltimore County region; she has provided training and outreach to a variety of community members (including teachers, school counselors and social workers, school resource officers, local pediatricians, local clergy members, and other members of the community) regarding child abuse, domestic violence, and child sex trafficking. Danielle, and the team she manages, respond to all concerns or reports of child abuse, maltreatment, or child trafficking presenting at the GBMC Emergency Department or other child protection needs throughout the hospital.
Danielle has been nominated for multiple GBMC Compassionate Caregiver Awards and was recently selected as a member of The Baltimore Banner’s 2024 Emerging Leaders.
