Valerie Johnson, RN is a NICU Charge Nurse at Nemours Children’s Health in Orlando, where she leads with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, team development, and compassionate family-centered care. Known for her collaborative leadership style, Valerie plays a key role in supporting frontline nursing teams, optimizing daily operations, and fostering a culture of safety and communication across the units she serves.

Valerie is an active contributor to professional governance and frontline leadership initiatives at Nemours. She has facilitated innovative engagement projects to strengthen professional growth, teamwork and cross-departmental connection. She is also instrumental in family partnership efforts, helping launch the NICU Family Advisory Council.  She is the chair of Professional Governance Frontline Leadership where she facilitates monthly meetings with charge nurses to develop initiatives to support nurses, throughput and to provide the best care for our patients and families. 

Passionate about education and resource accessibility, Valerie develops and presents training for charge nurses across the organization, including content focused on operational tools, clinical resources, patient and family support, and strategies for peer well‑being.

Valerie is dedicated to creating environments where nurses feel supported, families feel heard, and patient outcomes remain the central focus. Her work reflects a blend of leadership, innovation, and unwavering advocacy for both caregivers and the families they serve.
