Caryl Goodyear, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN

Caryl Goodyear, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN has over forty years’ experience in clinical and executive leadership including expertise in critical care, quality improvement, research, teaching, and leading. She is certified in both critical care and executive leadership. Caryl’s background includes roles as faculty, charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, clinical nurse specialist, and senior director. Caryl has served on many non-profit boards including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the largest nursing specialty association representing over 500,000 nurses. In 2008-2009 she served as the President of AACN traveling the U.S. meeting with nurses, presenting at conferences, and participating in high-level executive and governmental meetings to influence healthcare and the profession of nursing. Currently, Caryl serves as the Past President of the Missouri Nurses Association (MONA) after being on the President and serving on the MONA board as the Practice Director. In her PhD program at University of Kansas, she received numerous PhD student awards, including the research award and the leadership award. In addition, she was named the Dean’s Scholar. Caryl has been recognized for her achievements receiving the Lifetime Membership award from AACN, Distinguished Alumna from the University of Kansas and the Avila University School of Nursing Alumni Award. Caryl was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing in 2018. Caryl has well over 60 publications and currently serves on the editorial board for Nursing Management journal. Her passion is helping others attain all they want to achieve by teaching, leading, mentoring, coaching, presenting, and publishing.
