Dr. Hoffman is board certified in both pediatrics and preventive medicine, having received his training at Children's Hospital Pittsburgh and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Hoffman has been working for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health since 2007. He had been a practicing pediatrician at Health Center #6 from 2007 through 2024, and he has also served as the Medical Director of the Fatality Review Program, which is a unit of the Medical Examiner’s Office, from 2009 to the present.

In his role at the Fatality Review Program, Dr. Hoffman supervises several bereavement care providers as well as runs the Child Death Review and Homeless Death Review programs for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.
