Katherine Twombley, MD, FAAP, FAST, is a Professor of Pediatrics with Mayo College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL and she is the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and acting chief of pediatric nephrology at Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville. She joined Nemours Children’s in November 2025 after serving as division chief of pediatric nephrology and medical director of pediatric kidney transplantation as a full professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine.
Dr. Twombley earned her Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from the Medical University of South Carolina and performed her residency and internship in Pediatrics at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami. She went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Dallas Children's Hospital.
As an active researcher, Dr. Twombley has authored or co-authored medical textbook chapters and numerous peer-reviewed articles on nephrology topics. She is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
