Sarah Scholten, RN BSN CCRN
CNRN, brings more than 45 years of critical care experience spanning ICU, Neuro, Trauma, Burn, SICU, MICU, and Open Heart/Transplant intensive care. She spent the majority of her career at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, with additional trauma ICU experience at St. John’s. Her clinical background also includes 2.5 years as a Flight Nurse, caring for both pediatric and adult patients in high acuity transport environments.
While Sarah’s expertise is broad, her deepest roots are in Neuro and Trauma ICU care, where she has dedicated most of her career to advancing patient outcomes, supporting interdisciplinary teams, and mentoring nurses in complex neurological management.
For the past 15 years combined, Sarah has served as a Clinical Specialist with Integra, with an initial 8 year tenure followed by a second 7 year term to date. She has played a key role in establishing Licox brain tissue oxygen monitoring programs across numerous hospitals and has extensive hands on experience supporting clinicians in the management of severe brain injured patients.
Sarah has presented nationally and internationally on neurocritical care topics, with a focus on Integra technologies and advanced monitoring strategies. She has also spoken at multiple AANN and AACN chapter events, serving as a trusted educator and resource for nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
Today, Sarah continues her work as a clinical resource and educator, committed to elevating neurocritical care practice and empowering clinicians to deliver safer, more informed, and more effective care to their most vulnerable patients.
