Jon Tyson, MD, MPH
Jon E. Tyson, MD, MPH, is Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) and serves as Vice Dean for Clinical Research and Co-Director of the Institute for Clinical Research and Learning Health Care. Dr. Tyson has received continuous National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for 41 years and has directed or co-directed the KL2/K12 component of the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences at UTHealth Houston since its inception in 2006. As the Principal/co-Investigator for the NICHD Neonatal Research Network site at UT Houston since 1998, Dr. Tyson has led groundbreaking multicenter clinical trials that have influenced neonatal care practices nationwide. His work includes developing evidence-based approaches to making intensive care or infants at the limits of viability and advancing clinical trial methodologies in neonatology. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Tyson has authored numerous high-impact publications, including 42 publications in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, or Lancet. However, he is most proud of the accomplishments of the many talented and accomplished faculty he has been privileged to teach and mentor.
