I have been fortunate to develop my skills through various missions in the field of neonatology, including roles as a clinical researcher, medical director of a Level III NICU, and educator and mentor for medical students and residents. My greatest passion lies in expanding my knowledge in neonatology, which will help us reduce morbidity among high-risk infants through well-designed clinical trials. I have a broad background in neonatology, with a specific interest in clinical research involving premature infants. During my fellowship, I participated in multiple projects and published findings that demonstrated an association between improved nutritional outcomes and early human milk fortification. At the University of Florida, I have continued to conduct numerous studies and publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, I have collaborated with numerous physician-scientists across the country on various clinical studies. Over the years, I have been successful in recruiting patients for multiple clinical trials, ensuring protocol adherence, and promptly reporting any events alongside the research team.

C. Contribution to Science
- My introduction to clinical research began during my pediatric residency, where I learned how to formulate appropriate research questions and utilize various databases. During my fellowship under the guidance of Dr. Ajay Talati at the University of Tennessee, I was trained for a career in nutrition. My focus was on fortifying human milk earlier than the standard of care, and I conducted a randomized controlled trial to assess feeding tolerance in preterm infants. I received an extramural research grant and a Travel Award for Young Investigators for my clinical trial. My interest in nutrition continued as I participated in the Vermont Oxford Network (VON) collaborative project.

- After completing my fellowship, I moved to the University of Florida in Jacksonville to advance my career in clinical research focused on neonatal outcomes, benefiting from a larger geographical area. I continued to pursue my interest in nutrition by developing a standardized feeding protocol for premature infants, which resulted in a published study emphasizing the importance of standardization in feeding practices. Additionally, I created an innovative approach to managing patent ductus arteriosus by combining two medications and conducted a pilot trial to test this approach. In collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy, we also published our findings on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of this combination therapy.

Together, we successfully published several manuscripts. Additionally, while working with other colleagues across the country, we conducted systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
