Cory Watts, BS
Cory is an aspiring surgeon in his fourth year of medical school at the UCF College of Medicine. He is originally from Boise, Idaho. He completed his Bachelor's of Science in Human Biology at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. In medical school Cory has served in a variety of leadership positions at UCF such as the founding president of the General Surgery Interest Group, SNMA mentor, and Tri-M board member. He enjoys volunteering for the student-run KNIGHTS Clinic. He has a passion for mentoring pre-medical students and provides undergraduate mentoring as well as instructing MCAT preparatory classes.
He is actively engaged in research, and is involved in multiple different projects. He has conducted retrospective studies on social determinants of health in the development of high risk neuroblastoma. Additionally, he has been instrumental in organizing an ongoing study into robotic simulation exposure for pre-clerkship medical students as it impacts their interest in surgery and ability to understand and gain greater comfortability during their surgical clerkships. Cory's research has led to multiple presentations at national surgical conferences including the ACS Clinical Congress and the Academic Surgical Congress.
