Jenna (Jennifer) Staggs is a neonatal nurse practitioner at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Jenna began her nursing career in 2006 in the well newborn nursery after obtaining her associates degree in nursing from her local community college. From there, she transferred to the neonatal ICU, and then when on to obtain a bachelors of science in nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2014. Jenna then furthered her professional development by attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she completed a masters of science in nursing as a neonatal nurse practitioner in 2018, and completed a doctorate in nursing practice in 2020. She then returned to the University of South Alabama where she completed a post-graduate certificate program in nursing education. Jenna holds multiple nursing certifications including: Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) through the National League of Nursing (NLN), and board certified neonatal nurse practitioner (NNP-BC), Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety (C-ONQS), and care of the extremely low birthweight neonate (C-ELBW) through the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Jenna has lectured on neonatal topics for the Academy of Neonatal Nurses (ANN) national conference, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) national conference. Jenna also volunteers for multiple nursing organizations including ANN as an educational content reviewer and authored a chapter in the ANN Certification Review Course 2nd Edition; the Tennessee Nurses Association in their Government Affairs Committee; and is the chair-elect for the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) Annual Conference. Jenna has also published a peer-reviewed article in Advances in Neonatal Care and several non-refereed articles for TNA. Jenna received the APRN Rising Star Award from NANN in 2023. Jenna is passionate about life-long learning, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, family-centered care, empowering others to reach their full professional potential, and supporting licensed and certified professionals to practice at the full extent of their education, license, roll, and competency.
