Courtney Byrd, MD

Dr. Byrd is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine and a pediatric hospital medicine physician at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. After completing residency and hospital medicine fellowship at Emory University, Dr. Byrd joined as faculty in 2019. Her non-clinical time is spent on quality improvement initiatives to reduce the overutilization of high flow nasal cannula in the treatment of bronchiolitis. Her work on high flow overuse began in fellowship with the creation of a High Flow Holiday weaning protocol that successfully reduced high flow duration and inpatient length of stay. This work parlayed into co-leading a national quality improvement project through the AAP to reduce high flow overutilization. When she is not working to improve high value care, she is educating medical students as the Associate Clerkship Director for the third year pediatrics rotation.
