Eduardo Novais, Chair of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Nemours Jacksonville

Eduardo Novais, MD is the chair of orthopedics at Nemours Children’s Health, Florida. As an orthopedic surgeon, he specializes in hip and knee reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Novais earned his medical degree from Federal University of Minas Gerais and completed his pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at the Orthopedic Hospital of Belo Horizonte, both in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. After arriving in the U.S., he completed three additional fellowships — a pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at the University of Utah, an orthopedic/musculoskeletal oncology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a hip preservation surgery fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts.
Throughout his career, Dr. Novais has held multiple pediatric hospital leadership positions. Most recently he held the role of Director of Pediatric Orthopedic Research at Boston Children’s, where he led a project to standardize the care of neonates and infants with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) and created the Boston Children’s Hospital Orthopedic Center Medical Animation program to improve patient communication.
Academically, he’s been a contributing author on over 100 peer-reviewed articles, served as an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School, and sits on both national and international research committees.
Dr. Novais is a member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
