Alissa Swota, PhD

Alissa is the executive director of bioethics for Baptist Health System. She completed her PhD in New York at the University of Albany, during which time she completed a fellowship in clinical ethics at Albany Medical College. After completing her PhD, Alissa went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical and organizational ethics at the University of Toronto, Joint Centre for Bioethics. Alissa was an associate professor at the University of North Florida, where she also directed their Center for Ethics. Alissa has been with Baptist Health since 2006. In this role, Alissa teaches the University of Florida pediatric medical residents, in addition to multidisciplinary Team members across the Baptist Health System. Alissa has the privilege of speaking to diverse audiences across the country on pressing issues in clinical ethics. In addition to her book, Culture, Ethics, and Advance Care Planning, Alissa has published numerous articles in journals and anthologies. Most importantly, Alissa is Hannah and Max's mom.
