Jason Buschman, DDS, MEd

Dr. Buschman is a highly accomplished Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon whose career reflects an unwavering commitment to education, service, and global outreach. After graduating from Truman State University, Dr. Buschman earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors from the University of Oklahoma. He then completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Oklahoma and achieved board certification in 2004, with recertification in 2014, and 2024. Demonstrating his dedication to lifelong learning, he earned a Master of Education degree from Cameron University in 2013, graduating Cum Laude. Along with owning a thriving private practice for 15 years he worked as a part-time faculty member at the University of Oklahoma before transitioning to full-time teaching in 2015. Dr. Buschman’s first academic appointment was at Southern Illinois University, then at East Carolina University. He now is a full time clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
Dr. Buschman has participated in more than 25 mission trips, providing care to underserved populations around the world. His work includes treating dental disease and performing cleft lip and palate surgeries
Dr. Buschman has published several articles and co-authored a dental drug reference. He has developed and taught numerous courses for multiple dental schools, including Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office, Substance Use Disorders and Treatment Modifications, and Advanced Oral Surgical Procedures for the General Dentist.
One of Dr. Buschman’s greatest contributions has been his efforts to reduce the impact of the opioid epidemic. He teaches a course for the DEA and multiple state boards of dentistry on Substance Use Disorders and appropriate opioid prescribing practices. Additionally, he has been actively involved in several state substance use programs and has served as a liaison for students struggling with addiction.
In his personal time Dr. Buschman is a national rugby referee and serves as a World Rugby Certified Rugby Referee Coach, and the Southeast U.S. regional discipline officer for National Collegiate Rugby. He also is an assistant coach and Faculty Advisor for both the mens and womens rugby team at the University of Florida. When he is not involved with rugby he enjoys hunting, boating, golf, playing the trumpet, and beach time.
