Michael A. Posencheg, MD, is an attending neonatologist and the Vice President, Chief Quality and Safety Officer at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).  He is the former Chief Medical Officer of Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC).  Mike is an Improvement Advisor (IA) and is on the faculty of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.  He has been involved in quality and patient safety work at Penn and CHOP for over 15 years resulting in multiple published projects that have demonstrated improved outcomes and cost savings.  Mike enjoys teaching improvement methods, but especially about the role of the improvement coach as well as about using data for improvement.
