Cheryl Battersby, PhD FRCPCH BMBS BMedSci

Dr Cheryl Battersby is an NIHR Clinician Scientist, and Neonatal theme lead at the Centre for Paediatrics and Child Health (PaeCH) at Imperial college London and honorary Consultant Neonatologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She leads the NIHR funded NeoWONDER: Neonatal Whole Population Data linkage to improve lifelong health and wellbeing of preterm babies programme of research, linking together data in the National Neonatal Research Database to other national health and education data. Her research interests centre on using population data to improve the quality of care of babies born extremely premature and/or with complex or palliative care needs. She is the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) Honorary Secretary, Chair of the BAPM Nanopreterm Specalist interest Group, Chair of the Haemodynamics framework and working group member of the BAPM extreme preterm and palliative care frameworks. Her national leadership roles also include Deputy chair of the NIHR HTA Prioritisation committee for hospital based care and selection panel member of the NIHR Team Science Awards. In 2021, she was awarded the RCPCH Simon Newell Early Independent researcher award, recognising her achievements and strong commitment to training the next generation of researchers.
