Charles Paidas, MD, MBA, has joined Nemours as Chief, Division of General Surgery at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. He comes to Nemours from the University of South Florida (USF) where he was Vice Dean for Graduate Medical Education at USF Health, Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM); Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics; and Chief, Division of Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Paidas earned his medical degree at New York Medical College and his MBA at The Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business. He served his residency in general surgery at New York Medical College & Affiliated Hospitals and went on to complete a residency and a research fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also served a surgical oncology research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Paidas held various leadership positions at Johns Hopkins Univ School of Medicine for more than a decade before joining the USF faculty. At USF MCOM Dr. Paidas held positions as Chief Quality Officer, Vice Dean Clinical Affairs, and Designated Institutional Official. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery with special qualifications in both pediatric surgery and surgical critical care. He has served in an editorial capacity for peer-reviewed publications including the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Surgical Oncology, and the Journal of Graduate Medical Education.
