Daniele De Luca, MD, PhD

He is the Chief of the Division of Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care and Full professor of Neonatology at APHP-Paris Saclay University, "A. Beclere" Medical center. He directs the largest neonatal intensive care unit in France and one of the largest in Europe. He is Past President and lifetime Honorary Member of the European Society for Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC), the largest European pediatric scientific society that brings together neonatal and pediatric intensivists on the continent. His group is specialized in intensive care for to life-threatening newborns and infants. During the pandemics he was actively engaged and discovered the transplacental transmission of SARS-CoV-2. He has served as Temporary Advisor for the World Health Organization (WHO).
Author of about 400 scientific papers and dozens of books and chapters (H index 55). He is Editor of the European Journal of Pediatrics. He is Honorary President of the Pediatric Medicine Branch of the Asia-Pacific Health Association, Honorary Member of the Spanish Society for Neonatology and the American Pediatric Society. He has been awarded Knight of the Italian Republic in 2021 and Silver Medal for Public Health in 2025.
