Pankaj Agrawal, MD

Dr. Agrawal is the Chief of the Division of Neonatology at the University of Miami and Jackson Health System and Physician-in-Chief of the Holtz Children's Hospital, Jackson Health System. He is the Project Newborn Distinguished Chair in Neonatology and Professor of Pediatrics and Genetics at the University of Miami. He was the Merton Bernfield Chair in Neonatology, Director of Gene Discovery Core, Manton Center for Orphan Disease Research, and Director of the Neonatal Genomics Program at Boston Children's Hospital and Associate Professor of Paediatrics at Harvard Medical School prior to moving to University of Miami in 2023. He is now a visiting scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital and visiting Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. His areas of research include: Genomics in neonatal care, genetic and molecular basis of various rare diseases, and determining molecular basis and therapeutics against various congenital myopathies such as nemaline myopathy and centronuclear myopathy. He has published >200 papers in several high-impact journals and is the principal investigator for the Virtual Genome Center for Infant Health (VIGOR) Project, R01-funded by NIH. He is funded by foundations and NIH for >15 years, is an international speaker, and has been a recipient of several prestigious awards. He has mentored several fellows and junior faculty who have successfully built their research careers by starting their own laboratories and or getting K08, R21 and R01 funding awards from the NIH.
