Johan Ågren, MD, PhD.

Johan Agren is a neonatologist and Medical Director of Neonatal Intensive Care at the University Children's Hospital in Uppsala, Sweden, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Uppsala University. He serves as a Steering Committee member of the Tiny Baby Collaborative (of which Uppsala is one of the founders) and leads the Neurology section of the Swedish Neonatal Society. With decades of experience in caring for extremely preterm infants and their families his research is focused on optimizing care of infants born at the very lowest gestations, with particular interest in fluid balance management, and neurocritical care.
Research focus
Optimization of neonatal intensive care aiming to minimize central nervous system harm. Main ongoing projects are related to extreme prematurity, and asphyxia/HIE/hypothermia treatment.
